Hi, I’m Mathew White, owner of WhiteLine Driving School Geelong.
Before I became an instructor, I spent over 15 years in heavy transport, specialising in dangerous goods and travelling more than 2 million safe, incident free kilometres across Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia.
I carried everything from fuels and solvents to alkalines, acids and other high risk materials. That experience shaped the safety focused, calm and practical teaching style I use today.
I grew up in Bannockburn and have lived in the Geelong region my whole life. I am married with two young boys, so road safety is something I take seriously both as an instructor and as a parent.
Supportive and neurodiversity aware
As a parent of a child with ASD, I understand that every learner is different. Patience, clear communication and a calm approach are central to what I do and I am always happy to adapt lessons to suit individual needs.
My lessons focus on real world understanding, staying calm under pressure and building safe habits that last for life, not just ticking VicRoads boxes.
Teaching Approach & Key Programs
I teach with a calm, practical approach that works for learners of all ages. After spending years driving trucks through Melbourne’s busiest roads, freeways and industrial areas, I also teach from a truck driver’s perspective, helping learners understand blind spots, safe following distances, merging space and how to stay predictable around heavy vehicles.
My goal is simple: to teach people to drive safely and confidently, not just pass the test.
Key programs include:
• Melbourne Experience Drive: A 3.5 hour real world session through the CBD including hook turns, tram lanes, freeway merging and high density traffic. Designed to rapidly improve confidence and situational awareness.
• Mock Tests: Realistic VicRoads style assessments with clear feedback and scoring so learners understand exactly what to work on before their test.
Flexible Lessons for Every Learner
I provide night drives, freeway lessons, manual lessons, refresher sessions and flexible packages to suit every stage of learning. As a lifelong Geelong local, I know the roads and surrounding areas extremely well, choosing the right environments to help learners build confidence.
My focus is on creating safe drivers for life through patient teaching, real experience and genuine support.
